Performing a targeted quick search of playback video

To quickly locate footage of an event from playback video, you can use the Quick search feature in video tiles.

What you should know

  • Quick search only supports playback video.
  • Users must have the Playback privilege to use the Quick search feature.

Procedure

  1. From the homepage, open the Tiles task.
  2. Click Browse.
  3. Drag the camera that you want to search from to a tile.
  4. In the video tile, click Quick search () button.
    The Quick search dialog box opens.
  5. Move the Timeline duration slider to adjust the amount of time displayed in the row of thumbnails.
  6. (Optional) Click Edit region of interest.
  7. Draw a rectangle around the area that you want to target in your search.
    For example, if an event happened in a parking lot, draw a rectangle in the area of the lot where the event occurred.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Inspect the thumbnails in the Quick search dialog box and refine your search as needed.
    • Click the button between thumbnails to display more thumbnails within a specific timeframe.
    • Click () or () to move backward or forward in the timeline.
  10. When you find the exact moment you’re looking for, click the corresponding thumbnail.
    The video plays in a video tile from which the quick search was opened.
  11. (Optional) Export the video.
